Ivan Kristensen, founder of Trillium Aviators

In 2019, Ivan Kristensen came back from a Florida vacation with the idea to organize retired pilots around common goals: fly-outs and food. To date, Trillium Aviators has had 58 flyouts. Over the past five years Ivan’s email list of interested pilots has grown to over 325 names.

EAA AirVenture 2024 NOTAM

According to EAA officials, there are several important FAA-approved changes in the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2024 Notice, commonly referred to as the Oshkosh NOTAM), which spells out arrival and departure procedures for July 22-28 event at Wittman Regional Airport (KOSH) in Oshkosh.

The SkyVoice Alert 500.

Frank Kunnumpurath was a struggling student pilot, unable to judge the height to flare. He then went on to start a company, Holy Micro!, to produce the alert device that is now on the air show circuit, exhibiting at the 2024 SUN ’n FUN Aerospace Expo, the Alaska Airmen Association’s Great Alaska Aviation Gathering, and plans to be at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2024.

Pipistrel Velis Electro over BC landscape

Campbell River is quickly growing into a Canadian forefront of zero emissions aviation. Having received Transport Canada approval to fly the airplane, Sealand is currently limited to electric aircraft differences training for licensed pilots. The flight school is awaiting authorization for full commercial operations, when they will then train new student pilots in the electric airplane.

Bombardier Plant Inauguration

May 1, 2024 saw the grand opening of Bombardier’s new manufacturing plant located at the north end of Toronto Pearson International Airport (CYYZ). Bombardier began construction of their new manufacturing facility in 2019 with over 770,000 sq feet of hangar space dedicated to the manufacturing of their Global 7500 and 6500 private jet aircraft.

Dick Rutan

A decorated Vietnam War pilot, Dick Rutan died Friday evening at a hospital in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, with Burt and other loved ones by his side. He was 85. His friend Bill Whittle said he died on his own terms when he decided against enduring a second night on oxygen after suffering a severe lung infection.

Maurice Prud’homme began flying when he was 38 years old and is famous for his annual Mo’s Fly-In, typically held on the Ottawa River. Fast forward to 2024, Maurice or Mo as he prefers, has over 5,000 hours in his logbook, mostly in ultralight and recreational aircraft.
