In a ceremony earlier this month, the Owen Sound Billy Bishop Regional Airport has been renamed Major-General Richard Rohmer Meaford International Airport. The new name not only honours one of Canada’s most decorated military figures but also marks the beginning of a revitalization project aimed at boosting aviation in the region.

Sunday September 8, 2024 saw scattered clouds with temperatures on the ground at 16C in brisk winds at the Brampton-Caledon Airport (CNC3) in Brampton, Ont. By noon, the clouds changed to an overcast layer with brief rain showers. The Brampton Flight Centre, owners of the airport, opened up their doors to the community and public every year.

Constructed from 1938 to 1939, the terminal was built to service the new Port George VI Airport, as the Toronto Island airport was then called, which was conceived as the main airport for the city. It was designated a national historic site decades ago, but the original Terminal A has fallen into a state of disrepair.
