President's Corner: Together, Shaping the Future of COPA

It is with great honour—and a deep sense of enthusiasm—that I step into the role of President and CEO of COPA. From the moment I was introduced to this organization, I felt the weight and importance of its mission to support and protect General Aviation in Canada. I look forward to working together to ensure the continued success of COPA, and I’m truly excited to join this vibrant community of aviators, advocates, and enthusiasts.
Over the past decade, my career has taken shape in the world of professional associations—working to strengthen member engagement, grow communities, and ensure organizations deliver meaningful value. What has always inspired me most is helping people come together to protect something they care deeply about. That’s why COPA felt like a natural fit. The aviation community shares a deep passion—not only for the freedom of flight, but also for the responsibility that comes with it: to fly safely, remain connected, and advocate for a strong and sustainable future for General Aviation. That sense of purpose resonated with me immediately.
It’s no secret that General Aviation is at a critical moment in Canada. We’re facing mounting pressures: from regulatory changes and development threats, to airport closures and a declining number of new pilots entering the field. At the same time, I see immense potential. With the right focus, energy, and collaboration, I believe we can rise to meet these challenges and pave the way for a sustainable future for GA. There’s a growing need to tell our story more broadly, to engage new voices, and to inspire a new generation to see themselves as part of a vibrant future for our community.
That’s why one of my first priorities is to connect directly with you—the members who bring this organization to life. I look forward to connecting with members—whether in person at events, online, or over the phone—to hear your ideas, learn from your experiences, and begin the important work of shaping COPA’s future together. Your voices matter, and I want to ensure COPA reflects your needs, your values, and our shared vision.
While the challenges ahead are real, I believe this moment also presents a unique opportunity. Our mission—to preserve, promote, and inspire General Aviation in Canada—is more important than ever. But it’s not just a mission. It’s a movement, one that mobilizes every member to become an advocate for General Aviation, both locally and nationally.
Thank you for welcoming me into this community. I’m excited to get to work—not just for you, but with you. Together, we’ll protect the freedom to fly and ensure a bright and sustainable future for General Aviation in Canada
