Kathryn Moore: COPA’s New Director of Membership Services
I wanted to take a few minutes of your time to introduce myself as the new Director of Member Services for COPA. Aviation has been a part of my life since before I was born. My parents worked for Pratt & Whitney Canada for their entire career; my father started in 1966 as a test Engineer for the PT6 engine and by the 1990’s was Chief of Metallurgical and Chemical Processing.
My mother computed the fluid dynamics for numerous PWC engines in her 35 years at PWC, including the those in the Canadair waterbombers that we saw fighting the wildfires in California last year. They both love aviation to this day and remain very proud of their contributions to the industry. Growing up, many of my summer weekends were spent at airshows here in Gatineau and around Montreal and just south of the border while my dad spewed trivia about the different aircraft above us. From a young age and still, I felt that aviation was a perfect blend of science & magic, history, and the future.
I have been working in the arena of Member Relations for nearly 15 years. What drew me to this field was fluke, but what has kept me here is my passion for getting to know people – their stories, their history, what inspires them, and even what frustrates them. I excel at capturing those elements and bringing folks together to maximize the member experience. I see opportunity to do this at COPA, and I look forward to doing this for you.
In the few weeks that I have been on board, I have been learning and listening to where COPA came from, what COPA stands for, and some of where it is headed. I have spoken to a handful of members online and over the phone, but I would like to learn more from you, directly. I will be sharing a member’s survey in the upcoming days. The goal of this will be to capture some important demographics, but also to get a sense as to what we can do for you – after all, there is no COPA without the members.
In the meantime, I invite you to contact me anytime at the coordinates below to chat or bounce ideas off. I will be in person at a few fly-ins and air shows this summer as well as the COPA AGM and hope to meet as many of you there as possible.
When I am not meeting you in the field, my home is in Dunrobin, Ontario, (about 25 km from the Carp Airport), along the Ottawa River. My husband and I share a dog, 25 acres of protected forest, and an affable equine named Duke. I look forward to working for you as your new Director of Member Services.
