Kids ages 8 1o 18 have the chance to hop into the world of aviation with the Penticton Flying Club this month.

The COPA Flight #50 is offering free 15 - 20 minute introductory flights to young people with their Discover Aviation event, hoping to see more youth take an interest in flying.

"This event is perfect for all aspiring young aviators. Come and explore various aircraft and chat with experienced pilots. Our club pilots are volunteering their time and their aircraft to give participants the experience of flight," they shared in a news release.

The club has been around for decades as a nonprofit, social flying group. The club took over the old airport terminal building and expanded it to double the size, which they have today as their clubhouse.

The group acts not as a flying training facility, but as a hangout for regional recreational pilots interested in promoting and supporting general aviation, while also sponsoring educational and social events.

Youth are invited to come out on Saturday, Sep. 13 to 126 Dakota Ave for a day "filled with excitement and adventure in the world of aviation."

There are seats for 72 participants and registrations are on a first come, first serve basis.

If all tickets are taken, the club said there is a wait list on Eventbrite to collect contact information so they can get in touch in case of prior cancellations or no shows on the day.

Ticket are now available on Eventbrite, which can be booked online here.

The Penticton Flying Club is always looking for new members to join in, whether you’re a pilot or non pilot. For more information on joining, reach out to the club through their website contact page here.
