COPA’s President and CEO shares her vision for the future of General Aviation in Canada, highlighting both the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
Following its successful launch in 2024, COPA’s Discover Aviation program is returning this summer to Niagara Central Dorothy Rungeling Airport. The event offers youth aged 8–25 a chance to experience free introductory flights, hands-on ground school and aviation-focused activities, all designed to inspire the next generation of pilots.
On June 14, about 50 people joined COPA Flight 23’s lakeside Spring BBQ at North Bay Airport—complete with two fly-ins and delicious steaks. Nico Anello also shared highlights from Discover Aviation, where 99 kids took their first flights and over 1,000 visitors toured the airport for North Bay’s centennial celebrations.
Hundreds lined up outside the Region of Waterloo International Airport (YKF) on Saturday morning — not to catch a flight, but to help celebrate the airport’s 75th anniversary.

La région de Sudbury abrite depuis longtemps une communauté aéronautique dynamique, en particulier parmi les pilotes d’hydravions, mais ces dernières années, l’évolution démographique des pilotes, la perte d’organisateurs et de bénévoles clés, l’augmentation des redevances aéroportuaires et d’autres obstacles ont conduit à une période d’inactivité pour le club.

Tony Swain, a long-time COPA member, past Director for the BC and Yukon region, and frequent contributor to ‘COPA Flight’ passed away on April 3, 2025, at the age of 90. COPA celebrates Tony’s legacy as one of community, cooperation, and kindness. He leaves behind hundreds of friends, colleagues, and fellow aviators whose lives he touched through his example of service and his unwavering enthusiasm for life.
EDMO Distributors, Inc. and MicroAir Avionics Pty Ltd have entered into an agreement whereby EDMO will act as the North American wholesale stocking distributor for MicroAir’s complete line of avionics products, including the M760Q compact radio, T2000 compact transponder, and the new T3000 “skySuite” line of products.
