Frequently Asked Questions
Methods of payment for membership transactions
Effective October 1, 2023, the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA) will no longer accept any form of payment other than credit cards for new memberships and for the renewal of memberships. Additionally, members are encouraged to select the “automatic renewal” option to ensure that your membership remains in good standing.
Please note that COPA does not have access to credit card information. Your card details are held and protected by our payment system Stripe. This change will improve efficiency and reduce costs for the association and will ultimately help to fulfil our mission and better serve our members. Please note that COPA will still accept cheques for donations of $100 or more to the Freedom to Fly Fund and to the Flight Safety Foundation.
Membership refunds policy
COPA does not provide membership refunds, however, we do offer a free 90-day trial to new members.
Please note, memberships of any type are not transferable
- Refund requests made after 30 days of purchase are not offered.
- Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.
- COPA will not, under any circumstances, issue a refund to a different card or account than the one the item(s) was purchased with.
Help with student memberships
Although student memberships are submitted online, there is an approval process to accept them. Please ensure that your student proof provided includes your name, date and that you are currently enrolled in flight training.
Accepted proof is either a letter from your Flight Training Unit or Flight Instructor. Flight logbooks, receipts of payment, or Government issued forms will not be accepted.
If after four business days, you still have not received confirmation, we encourage you to follow up by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Digital membership card
COPA issues an annual digital membership card that is available for download under your members-only profile. Save the PDF and print it if you wish to add to your wallet. This card displays your name, membership ID, expiry date, and can be used the same way you would use your physical card.
Physical membership card
COPA will issue a one-time physical card to members. Expiry dates are not listed on these cards.
Physical cards with an expiry date are available for at a fee. Please contact COPA at email@example.com should you wish to purchase a membership card.
Inaccurate profile information
Please visit your account page to ensure your membership information is up-to-date. If your digital membership card displays inaccurate information, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. A simple change to your profile will correct any inaccurate information.
Replacement membership cards
If you lose your new card, which does not have an expiry date, please contact email@example.com. A replacement card will be issued and a $25 replacement charge will apply. Payment can be made at the time of the call.
Log in to your members-only profile with your member ID first and then try your email. If you click on the “eye” icon, you will be able to view your password and ensure it is entered correctly.
